Importing Files into Pro Tools®

SoundLog Pro™ imports files into Pro Tools with a wide variety of options.
Follow these steps to import files into Pro Tools®:

These settings only need to be set up once per session. Find these on the "Preferences" page, under the "Import" tab.

These settings must be made manually, as SoundLog Pro has no way of getting this information from your Pro Tools session.

Select:

  • Your current session sample rate & bit depth.
  • The Audio Files Folder for your current session. (Depending on your preference settings (see next section) Audio files will be copied to here.)
  • If you choose to use the ROM folder option (see next section), choose your ROM folder.

Select:

  • Import (works like using the Import window in Pro Tools®, or dragging & dropping a file on the Pro Tools® icon.), or Force a copy of the file to your Audio files folder.
  • Update the path to match new location. (In the event a file gets copied, converted, or an interleave stereo file gets split, the Online path for that record will update to reflect the new location.)
  • Bring Pro Tools® to the front, or leave SoundLog in front, when the import is complete.
  • Convert files if necessary. WIll convert mismatched sample rates, bit depths, and/or file types. (ex. with this checked, you can import an 8-bit 22k MP3 file into your session.)
  • Convert Sample Rates on extract & import. (used only when doing an extraction of a sound file (the red button at right))
  • Make new record on extract & import (Ex. if you have a 2 minute file of ricco's, and you use the "Extract & Import function" (the red button at right), a new record can be created for that file automatically, allowing easy future use.)
  • Use ROM folder. When checked & you're importing (not forcing a copy), files from ROM's get copied to the ROM folder. This lets you know you already have these files backed up permanently.
  • Find imported file in region bin. Upon importation, the sound file name is copied to the clipboard by default. With this feature checked, SoundLog will find the current imported file in the region bin. (Only for single file imports.)
  • Empty Trash as needed. In the event of a sound file conversion, SoundApp makes interleave files of any stereo file. Pro Tools® must then split this file. SoundLog Pro will delete the converted file, then empty the trash automatically with this checked.
