Importing Records into the Main Database
This can be used when updating your database to a new SoundLog Pro Layout, or to import records from other databases.
Follow these steps to import records:
IMPORTANT! First, make backups of your database! Importing records cannot be undone! (Of course records can always be deleted, but it's much easier to just start over, if you make a mistake.) If the database you want to import from is a SoundLog Pro, or Filemaker database, then first open that database and do a "Find All" <Command J>. Records from these types of databases can only be imported if they are visible/showing, so you MUST show every record first! |
Select "Import Records" from the "File" menu. |
Select: The database whose records you wish to import. |
Select:
(If this import is from a database other than SoundLog Pro, then drag the fields to line them up with their corresponding field in the source database. Then, make sure the arrow is checked, so the transfer/import between those fields will occur.) |
Check the box to "Perform Auto-Enter Calculations", and hit "OK". That's it! Depending on how many records there are to import, the time to complete can vary. (Example - A database of 115,000 records takes about 2-2.5 hours to complete.) |
