Cataloging Files
Cataloging scans
your drive(s) and/or folder(s) for files, then:
Follow these steps to customize your catalog:

Select:
If you've selected in step 1 to create new records, this data will be used when creating them. The values are selectable by a pull-down menu. Click the "Edit Choices" button to edit the values available. |
IMPORTANT!!! Next, select which type of drives or folders are being scanned. This is a global selection, which affects every drive or folder for the current Catalog. This determines how SoundLog Pro will treat files when importing into Pro Tools. (Meaning, files on server & ROM disks MUST be copied to the local drive before opening, whereas files on an Online drive may be simply imported.) ROM disks indicate a permanent storage media. Once a record is cataloged as ROM, it's ROM path will not be changed in future catalogs.
In the example at right, I'm scanning a new CD-ROM, and the files on that ROM I've just deleted from my Online drives. By selecting "Deleted from drives", the Catalog will clear the Online &/or Server paths that are associated with those files. |
Select your disks or folders to Catalog.
Choose either:
You can have values stored in both places, but you must choose one or the other when performing the Catalog. In the example at right, I have 4 disks and 1 folder chosen in the multiple disk box. I have 1 folder chosen in the Single box.
To add multiple disks:
To add a Single disk or folder, simply click the single box & at the prompt, select the disk or folder to Catalog.
Make your Catalog choice by cicking one of the down arrows. To do a multiple disk Catalog, hit the down top arrow (red circle at right) To do a single disk Catalog, hit the bottom down arrow (purple circle at right)
This will move the disks/folders to the master Catalog box (see next step)
The Final Step: In the example at right, I've chosen a multiple disk Catalog (see step above). At this point, when I see my choices in the white box, I'm ready to hit the "Catalog" button. |
